EVERY hip hop artist is a brand. As the quote above states, your feelings about your music/persona are not necessarily the same as what people think and how they feel about your music/persona. Take some time to LISTEN/READ about how to build your brand in a way that is authentic to who you are and that clearly communicates the reality of who you are and what the purpose of your music is.
In our niche, it is far more common to be fixed in our thinking and quite prideful than it is to be open to learning from others, but I believe that we will begin to see growth as individuals, brands and as a niche in the music industry as we take concepts/ideas from other niches and apply them to ours. Here, Kate Erickson, of Kate’s Take and Entrepreneur on Fire, gives us great insight into how to think through what you and your music are all about, and how to then share that with the world in a way that will be trusted and understood – when you earn trust and people are able to understand who you are and what you are all about, your fan base WILL GROW.
